
Cummins has found a bold new source of newsroom content: Cummins from four years ago.
Two articles have suddenly waddled into the European newsroom wearing August 2026 dates. One explains the difference between natural gas, LPG, LNG, RNG and diesel. The other bravely answers the question haunting civilisation since Rudolf Diesel first had an idea: what is a diesel engine?
Neither is new. These Cummins recycled articles began life in May 2022 and May 2023. Cummins now admits both were “updated” in August 2026, although neither appeared in the European news feed on the date printed above it. They surfaced later, like two old corpses pushed through the letterbox after somebody remembered the content calendar looked a bit fucking thin.
Two Cummins Recycled Articles Arrive Late
The first antique is Natural Gas (CNG) Vs. LPG, LNG, RNG And Diesel. Cummins gives it an August 3, 2026 date while stating that it was originally published in May 2022.
The second is What Is A Diesel Engine, And What Are The Types And Components Of A Diesel Engine? That one carries an August 5, 2026 date and an admission that it originally appeared in May 2023.
There is nothing inherently wrong with updating an old explainer. Useful information changes. Search behaviour changes. Regulations, infrastructure and products move on. A responsible publisher can revisit an old piece, check every factual claim, explain what changed and preserve a transparent publication history.
However, that is not how these arrived. TCAP was watching the European newsroom on August 3 and August 5. The pieces were not there. They appeared later with the earlier dates already bolted to their foreheads.
Perhaps a CMS delay caused it. Perhaps somebody refreshed the records and promoted them afterwards. TCAP cannot see inside the machine. What the public can see is simpler: the dates presented as the articles’ August dates do not match when the articles actually surfaced in the feed.
That is not breaking news. It is newsroom dress-up. Or perhaps something funnier. Perhaps it is part of the new Big Cummins Newsroom Shuffle they use to try to avoid TCAP scrutiny.
The 2022 Gas Article Gets A Byline Transplant
The natural-gas article has enjoyed the more ambitious resurrection.
In May 2022, Cummins published it under the name of Puneet Singh Jhawar, then General Manager of its Global Spark Ignited Business. Old regional versions and search records still preserve that credit. The August 2026 edition now names David King, Business Development Manager for Cummins Technologies.
Maybe King conducted a forensic review of every molecule. Maybe he stood over the old copy, sleeves rolled up, and demanded that CNG account for its whereabouts. Yet great slabs of the original article remain recognisable, right down to the explanation of gas furnaces, LPG cookouts, cryogenic equipment and the claim that there are “only about 55” public-access LNG stations in the United States.
Then come the shiny additions: a summary for search engines, a row of FAQs and a fresh author profile. The old dated URL now redirects visitors to the undated, updated slug. Puneet leaves the stage. David walks on. The furniture barely moves.
This is less a new article than an organ transplant performed on a filing cabinet. Same body. Different name on the toe tag. New metadata sprayed around the room to convince Google that something exciting has happened.
Four Years Later, The Same 55 LNG Stations
The surviving LNG-station line captures the spirit of the Cummins recycled article perfectly.
Cummins wrote in 2022 that the United States had about 55 public-access LNG stations. Four years later, the August 2026 version still carries the same figure and almost exactly the same surrounding discussion. Even if the number remains broadly defensible, its survival tells us what kind of “update” this was.
A serious refresh would identify the current source and date, check the live infrastructure data and tell readers whether the market had expanded, contracted or stalled. After all, the article exists to help commercial fleet managers compare fuels. Availability is not decorative trivia. It determines whether a truck can refuel or becomes an extremely expensive roadside sculpture.
Instead, Cummins retained the old numerical furniture and added FAQ boxes underneath. The result looks optimised rather than reconsidered: an ageing sales explainer pulled from storage, fitted with search-friendly handles and shoved back towards the algorithm.
Moreover, the article still carries the familiar corporate sales pitch about natural gas burning cleanly and helping reduce costs. Cummins did not return to the subject because the world urgently needed to hear what LPG does at a cookout. It returned because old evergreen copy can be made to impersonate new newsroom activity with considerably less effort than producing an actual story.
Cummins Rediscovers The Diesel Engine
Two days after the gas article’s printed date, Cummins apparently made another extraordinary discovery: diesel engines exist.
The 2023 explainer already told readers that air enters a cylinder, a piston compresses it, fuel is injected and combustion produces mechanical energy. It already described two-stroke and four-stroke engines. It already listed the block, pistons, cylinder head, valves, fuel injectors, camshaft, connecting rods and crankshaft.
The August 2026 version tells readers the same thing. The prose survives almost word for word from the May 2023 article preserved in Cummins’ older regional search records. What now makes it an update? Cleaner headings, a component table, FAQs, extra links and a fresh slab of corporate biography declaring Cummins a “Global Power Technology Leader.”
Apparently, the crankshaft required no major rethink. It still turns linear motion into rotational motion, the lazy bastard.
Finally, the piece ends by announcing that Cummins diesel engines are “the most powerful and reliable engines.” No qualification. No comparative evidence. Just the company placing a paper crown on its own product and asking the reader to admire the ceremony.
If this is education, it is education delivered by the bloke selling textbooks from the back of a van.
Updated August 2026, Visible Whenever
The timing makes the double resurrection funnier.
Cummins had genuine August news to publish: quarterly results, a hazardous-location engine certification and the usual procession of corporate self-congratulation. Then these two old explainers appeared behind them carrying August 3 and August 5 dates, despite not showing in the European feed when those dates passed.
Consequently, the archive now makes August look busier than it looked in real time. A casual reader sees a steady newsroom cadence. Search engines see newly dated pages on large commercial topics. Cummins gets two more pieces of “current” content without the inconvenience of having two new things to say.
Again, TCAP cannot prove whether the lag came from scheduling, syndication, localisation or somebody pressing the wrong Drupal button with a forehead. The unexplained mechanism matters less than the published result. These articles did not arrive when their displayed dates suggest they did.
Meanwhile, the old date-stamped URLs redirect into cleaner evergreen addresses. That consolidates search authority, preserves old links and allows Cummins to keep polishing the same corporate ornaments indefinitely. Sensible SEO, certainly. Fresh journalism, fresh PR, absolutely fucking not.
Newsroom Taxidermy With An FAQ Section
So what did Cummins publish in August 2026?
One May 2022 gas comparison with a new byline, new FAQs and much of its old body intact. One May 2023 diesel primer with improved formatting, new boilerplate and the intellectual ambition of a laminated poster in a training room. Both arrived late in the European feed. Both wore earlier August dates. Both now occupy undated evergreen URLs designed to keep collecting search traffic long after the newsroom moment has passed.
That is the trick. Cummins is not merely recycling content. It is recycling the appearance of activity.
The company can call these updates. TCAP will call them what they look like: two old articles taken down from the loft, dusted with metadata and propped upright in the August newsroom. One carries a new name stitched onto the jacket. The other has learned to answer five basic questions about itself.
Four years of global power technology leadership, and the big reveal is still that pistons go up and down. Aces.
