Nuveen LLC – the dog shit on Cummins’ pavement. Still steaming, still stinking, still pretending it’s perfume. This trillion-dollar parasite calls itself a “responsible investor” while shovelling millions into Cummins – the same diesel-belching polluter choking the air and lying through its shiny PR teeth. They love to talk about sustainability, ethics, ESG. Fuck that. They bankroll filth, slap a green sticker on it, and call it progress.
These bastards aren’t shareholders – they’re enablers. £105 million in Cummins stock isn’t a coincidence. It’s a handshake. It’s blood money dressed as stewardship. When Cummins cheats emissions and poisons rivers, Nuveen pockets dividends and grins for the cameras. If that’s ethical investing, then I’m the Pope.
The Preston Hollow Shakedown
Back in 2019, Nuveen decided competition was beneath them. So they allegedly ran a smear campaign to crush a smaller rival – Preston Hollow Capital. A Delaware judge literally said they used threats and lies to “destroy” them. You’ve got to be a special kind of corporate thug to get called out like that in court.
They eventually settled – no apology, no shame – just the usual dance of lawyers and hush money. Their muni-bond boss resigned, probably into another bonus somewhere else. Because at Nuveen, crime doesn’t cost, it pays.
SEC Fines? Just Another Tuesday
2024 rolls around and surprise! The SEC nails TIAA-CREF, Nuveen’s saintly parent, for screwing clients with hidden fees and conflicts of interest. Regulation Best Interest? They couldn’t even fake it. They were pushing overpriced crap to fill their own pockets.
Fine? $2.2 million. Loose change down the back of a leather boardroom chair. They’ve racked up more penalties for record-keeping failures and compliance fuck-ups too. This isn’t negligence. It’s strategy. Break the law, pay the toll, keep rolling.
The Burner Phone Trader
Meet Lawrence Billimek – one of Nuveen’s own traders, and a poster boy for how rotten the culture is. Between 2016 and 2022, he ran a £37 million insider trading scheme using burner phones to tip his mate. For six goddamn years. That’s not a bad apple; that’s a forest fire.
He got seven years in prison, his buddy got a slap, and Nuveen shrugged. How does a scam that obvious go unnoticed that long unless everyone’s too busy counting bonuses to care? Either asleep or complicit – take your pick.
Greenwashing the Apocalypse
Nuveen loves a climate pledge. Loves a press release about sustainability. But the numbers don’t lie: £61 billion in fossil fuel investments under the TIAA/Nuveen banner. That’s not a slip-up – that’s a business model.
Hundreds of academics called them out for climate-washing. They waved some paperwork, said “we’re reviewing,” and carried on torching the planet. They invest in Cummins because Cummins is what they are: a company that pretends to save the world while helping to kill it. Two devils holding hands and calling it ESG.
Fuck the Shareholders Too
In 2023, a US appeals court ruled that Nuveen illegally gutted shareholder voting rights. Why? To shut people up. These pricks don’t believe in democracy unless they’re running it. They violated the Investment Company Act, lied about it, and spun the ruling as a “win for investors.”
A win for investors? It’s a fucking mugging. They stripped away rights to protect their own control. That’s not management – that’s dictatorship in pinstripes.
The Ohio Bribery Cloud
Nuveen wasn’t charged, but it stinks of guilt by proximity. Their big stake in Energy Harbor – the nuclear spin-off of FirstEnergy – put them smack in the shadow of Ohio’s £47 million bribery scandal. Same ecosystem, same rot. They didn’t care; they just held their nose and kept the stock until it was sold off.
When money’s on the table, Nuveen doesn’t ask where it came from. It’s all just numbers – dirty, radioactive numbers.
Rotten to the Core
Nuveen and Cummins are mirror images – smug, self-serving, and allergic to accountability. One poisons the air, the other poisons finance. Both hide behind fake virtue and glossy campaigns about “responsibility.”
They don’t fix the world. They fund the filth that breaks it.
So yeah, Nuveen – the turd on Cummins’ pavement – still steaming, still stinking, and still pretending it’s progress.
